I have the OBD reader in my car, at anytime, I can just pull out my phone and conveniently make changes to the car. I didn't even have to manually re-download the thing. Your argument for changing iphone is not valid either, I changed to a new iphone X, and the paid BimmerLink app transfered over automatically when the new phone was logged in with my account. BimmerLink with OBD is the cheapest way to register battery, there is no if and buts, I would say 99% of the people do use phone app and that is the easiest way to do it. You need to be specific that this is the cheapest way for people who still lives in the stone age and do not use phone apps.

This may not be true for Mac OS as developers don't have to use the App Store and I'm not sure if the Mac App Store has such a policy. I think it's their policy that developers can't charge for upgrading to a new version.

Usually the upgrades are free once you make the initial purchase in the App Store. Of course, I can't text anyone on the Autophix 7810, and I can't read my email on it, or order a pizza, so that's bad.

I can't think of a single app version I used 5 years ago that is available for free upgrade on itunes. The iphone I'm using now is different than the one I had 5 years ago. $80.00 - All in, free shipping, OBD II chord included, plug it in and complete the job in 5 minutes. Software in it can be upgraded for free through a usb port on a computer. The Autophix 7810 works with over 15 different model years of BMW's. IPhones will likely still be around as well as bimmercode and if you get a new car it will be compatible vs having to upgrade your tool that only works with a specific year and model.

I'm writing this thread to provide readers with information on batteries and low-cost registration tools for our cars. While the tool was connected I erased several codes that had popped up during the life of the vehicle. I bought an Autophix 7810 for BMW scan tool on for $80.00 and it worked like a charm to register my new battery in the 428 ix. I don't care if I can use the tool to email my friends and I plan on going through life never having made an in-app purchase. I also want one that will work today, and again in five years when I have to register a new battery. My requirements for choosing a battery registration tool were simple. This battery costs $200.00 which is why I didn't buy it. It has the same Ah and RC as the Interstate battery and is also made in Germany. i bought it at a local auto parts store.Īnother alternative battery I considered was from Autozone, the Duralast H8-AGM. This battery cost $180.00 and is labelled as being made in Germany. I replaced it with an Interstate MTX-H8/49 AGM battery with 95 AH and 160 RC. The original equipment (OE) battery in my car was labelled an AGM made by Exide Technologies and was size: H8 Group 49 with 92 Amp Hours (Ah) and 160 Reserve Capacity (RC). I did it myself for $275.00 and that includes the cost to buy the device to register the battery. Even a Land Rover does not completely collapse all at once - just seems that way.I just replaced and registered the battery in my 2015 428i x-drive coupe.Ĭar repair shop wanted $520.00 U.S. Generally the more error messages, the simpler the solution. The odds are your problems will be solved by the battery as the brake light switch does not go to those extremes in false messages. Replace the **** with disco3 co uk and insert a period in each of the two spaces. Also make certain you have genuine LR tail light bulbs - off spec bulbs can throw error codes and knock down the suspension. Actually regardless consider changing out the switch, (twenty five dollars and not too difficult), as it will be a problem one of these days. If your HDC error message persists along with "Cruise Control not Available", check out the link below re replacement of the brake light switch or tail light bulbs. I had just assumed that an H8 was not available, but the coincidence now sounds to me like policy. It must be LR North America at your service. This was the same for me a couple of years back under a warranty replacement. I noted your comment re the H7 being installed as a warranty replacement by the dealer.
